I dont know why everyone likes obama so much because of his "smooth talking" i dont think his speechs are that good, or inspiring. Maybe it is because he is just better than mccain and bush so he is in realitive terms freakin awsome at speaking
I am more for john mccain than i am socialist policies, but i dont like mccain. plus i am pro gun, pro life, and pro death penalty (its not as contradictory as it sounds)

I'm angry with corporate greed, but I am not ready to sell out my country, nor stand in a long line for my loaf of bread.
You think Obama wants to spread the wealth? He believes in the same progressive tax system that McCain's hero Teddy Roosevelt originally proposed. His only "tax increase" is the expiration of Bush's tax cuts only for the richest Americans, and tax decreases for almost all middle class Americans. I don't call that socialism. Do you think Teddy Roosevelt was a socialist? Hell, Ronald Reagan raised income taxes on the rich, and overall raised payroll taxes, was he a socialist?

You want to know who the real socialist is? Sarah Palin. Alaska is by far the most socialist state in the nation, with Alaskans "sharing the wealth" from oil royalties. Alaskans don't pay sales tax or income tax, and receive a fat check from the government every year. Sarah Palin RAISED TAXES on oil companies to FURTHER SPREAD THE WEALTH. Her words, not mine:
Quote:
"We can afford to share resource wealth with Alaskans and to temporarily suspend the state fuel tax," she said at the time.

Much as Obama explains his tax hike on the rich as a way to help people who are struggling, Palin's statement talked about the energy costs burdening Alaskans:

"While the unique fiscal circumstances the state finds itself in at the end of this fiscal year warrant a special one-time payment to share some of the state's wealth, the payment comes at a time when Alaskans are facing rising energy prices. High prices for oil are a double-edged sword for Alaskans. While public coffers fill, prices for heating fuel and gasoline have skyrocketed over the last six months and are now running into the $5- to $9-a-gallon range for heating fuel and gasoline across several areas of the state."

In an interview with The New Yorker last summer Palin explained that she would make demands of a new gas pipeline "to maximize benefits for Alaskans":

"And Alaska we're set up, unlike other states in the union, where it's collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs."
Collectively own the resources? That's the definition of socialism!

Her tax increase:
Quote:
Over the opposition of oil companies, Republican Gov. Sarah Palin and Alaska's Legislature last year approved a major increase in taxes on the oil industry a step that has generated stunning new wealth for the state as oil prices soared.
She took that money from the rich oil companies and sent it to Alasa's citizens. Redistributing the wealth? Socialism?

Good points, all. Nice to see someone else mention this. You won't hear it in the supposedly liberal media, heck, FoxNews didn't even report this, and you won't hear it from Obama. He's too chicken to say something about it, apparently. Her husband also belonged to a political party that despises America and wishes to secede. He only switched to the Republican party when Sarah ran for Governor. Why are both sides not talking about this? This is just as bad as Obama's missteps with Ayers and Wright. Both sides run dishonest campaigns. May the best loser win.

I always heard that the 2 issues that should "NEVER" be discused were Politics and Religion. The reason is that every person has their own opinion and for the most part, will not change it and will become angry when challenged about it! That said, 1) Anyone that does not vote has no "RIGHT" to ***** about the outcome of the election. 2) Anyone that votes for the "Third" party are "realisticly" not voting! (sorry, but the odd,s are "WAY" against the 3rd party ever winning. Every body knows that only the 2 main parties are involved. They both count on those "Independent or Green" votes to take away from their opponent) However you did vote so ***** away!. 3) As a former military member (20yrs) I just do not understand how "ANYONE" can support any politician that will not support and,or fund the military! Did you know that service members that have faithfully served (often putting their lives on the line!) for years, qualify for FOOD STAMPS!!! That is disgraceful! The choice to serve (for "most" of us was just that, A choice.) is mostly due to a Love of country, and a love for our democratic process. For 20 years I willingly defended and put my life on the line to protect your right protest, to burn the American flag, and to protect your freedom of speech! Do I agree with burning the Flag? NO!! Do I agree with everything that is said? NO! However, I would still gladly give my life to defend the Constitution, my President, and my country! I am a life member of the VFW, and NRA. (look them up). You can say (or post) almost anything you want due to the freedoms America offers! All I ask is that before you vote, RESEARCH "ALL" THE INFORMATION available. Don't be a Lemming! Do not follow blindly, make an informed decision! Use the mind that "GOD" gave you! If your candidate wins, remember his promises, If he looses, Always support the Troops, your Country, and your God! What was the "Code" in the movie a few good men? "Unit, Corps, God, Country!" How about "My fellow Americans, My God, and My Country!"? Please do your duty and VOTE! And whoever wins, Support them!

Unfortunately the 2 major cantidates are not (IMHO) the best to represent this country. Do I agree with everything that either say... NO. Most of the policies that I thisnk would HELP America and most of all the struggling middle class(my wife my 2 daughters and myself included) would be with Obama/Biden. Then again anyone can stand at a podium and spout off a bunch of promises. The real test is when that person gets in office and actually acts on those items. I support the troops that are fighting abroad. My brother-in-law is in the Marines and has been to Iraq twice(soon to be a third time). I do not however believe that we should be in Iraq. Our efforts over there should be in Afganistan/Pakastan. I wont be satisfied that our efforts over there were justified until I hear that we killed Bin Laden. THAT was the main reason we were there to begin with, retalliation for 9/11. People seem to forget about that. Goerge Bush has forgotten that. The last 8 years have been a MESS. I feel sorry for whoever wins the election because they have a horribly messed up country to try to fix. George Bush has bankrupted this country like everything he been in charge of.

I would rather vote Obama than McCain, and voting for a 3rd party just seems to be pointless to me. Just my $.02, might be worth something, might not.

What get me about the elections, is why would Saturn employees(UAW) support a liberal candidate with millions in campaign contributions and radio and TV adds. As a conservative I don't want my money going to promote a political view oposite of mine. Maybe they just want to build cars for democrates? I realy like my 07 Aura, but , I'm going to think twice before I buy another UAW built car
