Default smells like fuel vapors under hood of 93 SL2. Cheap fram plastic fuel filter?

When I either have the window rolled down and I am just starting to pull forward from being stopped at a light, or when I am idling at a light with the vent blowing, recirculate not on, I smell a hint of raw fuel vapors coming from underhood. If I pop the hood I can definitely smell fuel vapors. I don't see any evidence of leaking and I am having a hard time tracking down where the smell is coming from. The only fuel system related service I did recently was change the fuel filter to a new Fram (plastic) one. Any ideas? It is definitely the smell of raw fuel vapors, not burned exhaust fumes. It seems like it is coming from the side of the engine bay w/ the fuel rails and filter. It does not seem to be coming from the charcoal can at the pass side front of the car. The fuel rail connections look to have a very minor amount of old residue around the connections, but nothing that looks like a real leak. I can put UV dye in the fuel and see if anything shows up, but with a 40+ psi system usually if there is any leak you will KNOW about it because it will be a massive gusher. So it seems that I may be dealing with a leak in the vapor recovery system rather than a liquid pressurized fuel leak. But maybe not.

Any ideas where to start?

Check the regulator vacuum hose for fuel from a leaking regulator diaphragm. Also look at the supply line to the filter.

Found it, there is a rubber union under the master cylinder where the plastic evap line from the fuel tank joins a metal line that goes behind the intake manifold. The rubber union was completely split in half. $2.39 later I am back in business and no more fuel vapor smell. It's amazing how bad the fumes were from that little line.
