Pictured above is the front page of the single-page brochure created to promote the 1999 Saturn Homecoming SL2. Only a limited number of these green sedans were built to commemorate the brand's second homecoming celebration held in July of '99 at the former Saturn plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. I saw one at the junkyard Monday. I grabbed the EGR adaptor from it. That the fourth one I've seen there this year.

If it was half priced weekend I would of grabbed all the body panels. They were in pretty good shape.

I remember seeing this car staged at the GM test track amusement park ride at Epcot Center back in 1999. We still have a picture of my wife standing next to a 1999 Homecoming SL2, which was positioned next to a (recently introduced at the time) Cadillac Escalade.

Thank you again for the trip down memory lane, Charlie! Makes me miss my 1999 dark blue SL2. Great car!

I had the best time there.I met some of the office personnel of Spring Hill and had a good chat with them. I drove down there in my 94 Gold SL on Wed.July 28. Avg. mpg was 46 and 47.5. I hope another Homecoming is in the wind.
I would like to show off my 2000 LS2.
Thanks..

There will never be another Homecoming. The Saturn of that era is dead and gone. Besides the idea of Homecoming was to bring the cars back to their home where they were built. The L-Series wasnt built in Spring Hill.

a saturn homecoming is not necessarily out of the question. Scion held a homecoming-esque event in Nevada where everyone drove their Scions there and chatted with Toyota reps and each other over hotdogs and beer. I bet GM and Saturn could do it again, it would make a great revival and prove the uniqueness of the Saturn brand, which GM is struggling to bring back.

I know that the L-Series was not built in Spring Hill. When I went in 99',
I had a 94 SL with over 101,000 miles on it. And getting 46-47 mpg on the Highway. A reunion of Saturn owners would still be nice.
Thank You...

As recently as last year, Saturn was thinking about another hosting another "homecoming." As was mentioned earlier in this thread, it couldn't be like the first two because their cars are built all over the place and Spring Hill is now building the Chevy Traverse. However, Saturn could choose a location in central US to host a single event, or organize regional events throughout the country. I haven't heard much more since then, but that doesn't mean they aren't discussing it internally. Maybe we'll see something for Saturn's 20th anniversary...?

Gone with that is the loyalty most people had to the brand. I don't see anything like that happening again. If it does it won't be on the same scale and there's not going to be as large of a crowd.

Most car forums will have little regional forums and they organize local meets. Might not be a bad idea. I know there's plenty of us Floridians that we could organize a meet somewhere.

I'd say Gainesville because I'm lazy and we have a drag strip. But that wouldn't really appeal to most Saturnites.
