Default 2003 Saturn Vue Brake Replacement

My brakes need replacing on the front (just the bads as best I can tell.) Can anyone tell me where I might find information for doing this or can you tell me how to do this? I hate paying the dealer a fortune when I might possibly be able to do them myself for WAY LESS!

Thank you

Melinda

FWIW, if you've never done a brake job before and don't have the basic mechanical skills, the best advice would be to view any video put out by anyone like Advance Auto or even youtube videos for an excellent guide. This way you'll see how you're getting involved in and the risks if you make a mistake. Of course, there are manuals also, books, online guides by simply Googling 'brake systems'. Take your time and then decide as its always a money saver if you DIY but remember the risks. Once done, every brake job is the same as long as you keep an eye on the whole picture as far as safety goes. Then just go have fun and get dirty!?

Honestly, replacing your brakes is one of the easiest "major" maintenance items that you can do, particularly on the front.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe it will require only:

12mm 6-point socket and applicable ratchet.
4-5" C-Clamp
Whatever is required to remove your tires (DON'T FORGET JACK STANDS)
Patience
Common Sense

There's only 2 bolts that hold the caliper onto the mounting bracket. It's a very simple design. Only 2 more bolts and you can have the rotors off... (I think those are 14mm)

...
Oh good. My Dog found the Chainsaw.

Only one of which needs to be removed to replace the brake pads. The caliper will swing out of the way once one bolt is removed.
