2005 ION-1 Sedan
2005 VUE 2.4L
Default Roof Rack Installation

How can I move the crossbars on my Vue's roof rack?
I took out the set screw and removed the end piece.
I took out the Allen screw and the crossbar came loose.
Now I need to know how to move the bracket, that is fastened to the roof, which holds the crossbar.

Please advise,
Rabster

There is a screw that holds them to the roof rack, but I'm pretty sure it's a specialized type of head similar to a torx head. Pretty sure the 2005 and 2004 roof racks are the same.

...
Not a Saturn.

The bit that you need to remove it should have come with the crossbars. If you can't find it anymore, Harbor Frieght sells a "security bit" set for about $10 that contains the correct bit. That's what we used to move our cross bars. It should be as simple as: pop off the end cap that covers the screw, unscrew the torx-style screw using the security bit, and off they come. If you've got an extra bracket in there, I'm not sure what to tell you, as mine does not have that. I have the 02-05 style crossbars on my VUE because I don't have the chrome side rails.
