Default What would you want changed on the next Aura?

1. More instrumentation, the current Saturn/Opel trend of dumbing down the instrument panel is aggravating.

2. Smooth out the center pillar trim. With the seat all the way back it hits you in the back when getting in the car.

3. AWD system for people that live in snowy/icy areas.

4. Raise the car up a few inches. It seems to sit lower than the Camry or Accord.

Smartass answers aside,

I would like to see HID Headlights and a NAV system. There is really no excuse for not offering both in a current Generation car. If we want to increase the "class" of the car then I would say AWD.

Flexfuel would be a waste I think since it is a dead end and GM needs to get rid of it in general it will add expense to the car without adding value.

Now an advanced hybrid would be nice.

Cut weight, perhaps re-gear and make other adjustments to get the highway gas rating of an efficiency oriented model at least up to 35 MPG without hybrid technology. 35 MPG should be a near term minimum goal with even better numbers as a longer term goal with the introduction of an advanced hybrid and other technologies . Ultimately hybrid or other electric technology should also be used to deliver far better non-highway results than are currently achieved in today's Aura.

6 speed manual with the 2.0L diesel engine (49mpg highway) europe gets in the Opel. Who would buy a ***** prius when you could get a nice looking car with 49mpg?

One big thing I liked about the Altima that I had before the Aura was the CVT. Hooked up to a decently powered 4 cylinder, I was constantly turning 32-35 mpg. it felt every bit as fast as the Aura does.

Also, the door entrances need to be reworked for taller folk. I feel odd getting out of my car sometimes (depends on exit angle)

Hmmm..

1. I was about to say get rid of the 4 speed tranny but I think that goes away for the 2009 MY?

2. AWD

3. Raise it up at least a couple of inches (can be a challenge to enter and exit vehicle is you're 6' or taller)

That's all I can thinkl of right now..

I just finished reading an article in Wards that predicted CVTs are going away in favor of 8 speed and DCT transmissions due to better efficiency. They predicted that Nissan would hold on to them for a while, like Mazda has done with the rotary engine, but for the most part they are being phased out. Apparently they can only achieve 85% efficiency and 8 speed transmissions can achieve 97%.

Actually Flexfuel is a great advantage in allowing fuel choice at little to no cost. All modern fuel systems are designed to tolerate ethanol and GM continues to calibrate engines for E85 with 2009 MY HHR being the first 4cyl flex fuel US car. Please read about the great advances in non-food based, low cost, ethanol manufacturing.

1. 2 mode plug-in hybrid option.
2. real ipod integration w/ display on head unit
3. a display on the rear seat audio
4. seat / mirror memory
5. foot-well lighting
6. cornering lights!
7. much better low-beam pattern
8. default climate control to a/c off when temps below 65F
9. inexpensive built-in nav, not a $2k system. If Garmin can make a really good $500 unit, why are the factory systems so expensive?
10. puddle lamps

Use a better heated seat system. I came out of a Jetta and the heated seat control was on the dash and it had four settings. Aslo if you started the car and the heated seats were on when you shut the car off they would come on again.

Tell us exactly what you're looking for with this. The current Aura has speedo, tach, temp and fuel.
I can't imagine volt and oil pressure gauges are much use these days
I'd like to see an analog clock, just for fanciful sake. I like them
