Default Goodbye Saturn, Hello Ford Ranger

Sooooo..... I finally found the truck I've been looking for! The only problem is I had to sacrifice (totaled) my 38 mpg SL2 to do it.

I went and bought me a 2002 Ford Ranger FX4.
Loaded, 4x4, blue/black interior, 4.0 liter, 44K, $11K on the dot.

This should be an interesting 6 years!

I am not, however, abandoning the Saturnfans.com community! I will still be looking for a first gen SCX (stick or auto, doesn't matter) for awhile, as I want one as my project car.

Saturns still rock!

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

Yeah... um.... I might not even be getting the damn thing now. Freakin finance company is giving me a runaround over one little scratch on my credit report.

I hate having to finance things.

Yeah, with the way the economy is, the banks are going under, because they gave all the money out a few years ago, when times were good, and never got repaid.. So now you have to have like perfect credit to get anything... (and no mess ups...) Good Ol' USA!

Don't forget the second loan for the fuel. My 99' equiped essentially the same would manage a whopping 22 if I drove with an egg under the gas pedal. (And that was when gas was .99 a gallon!)

Well, lol, I ended up getting the thing!

I don't get mileage reimbursement, nor do I need one... I take a vanpool to work; and the van is a whole 10 miles away. This is opposed to the 55 mile drive to work. I drove the Ranger 70 miles so far and I've not broke 1/8th of a tank yet. It helps, however, to not have a lead foot.

Guys this is a Ranger not a 10 mpg F250 or a 7 dollar per gallon cummins.

Besides, I have a pretty damn good job.

Ok enough sticker shock for tonight.

I'm going to bed.

Must be a Ford thing. My 1988 5.0-liter Thunderbird will go almost 150 miles before the gas hand even moves away from "F". Once that hand starts moving, though, LOOK OUT! It'll do about 500 miles on a tank. Problem is, it's an 18 gallon tank, and gas is $5.25/gallon here. Thankfully it's a weekend toy (one that hasn't been driven in two years due to an ongoing restoration, but a toy nonetheless). Close to $100 fill-ups certainly make one appreciate the Saturn more tho...

Which is why I'm still on the prowl for a first gen S series.

I'm going to have this truck for a LONG time. I might as well try to keep it running that long.

I'll keep an eye out for a good condition SC for you. I've got my eye on a 94 SC2 belonging to the neighbor of a friend - body and interior are immaculate but it needs about $150 in parts thrown into the engine. TAM is literally in 3 pieces, cam cover gasket's spewing oil out, and who knows when the spark plugs were last replaced. I told them when they're ready to sell, let me know and I'll make them an offer.

Yep, same here. I still have my 94 SC2 sitting out front, however, that is my brothers daily driver.

So far, I'm loving my Ranger. I have to admit that. I even got a better deal on financing today.

It'll be paid off before I know it.

As for gas, well, it's only money and you can't take it with you.
