Default Green Line Vue Hybrid Uses Less Fuel with Engine/Hybrid Combo

Green Line Vue Hybrid Uses Less Fuel with Engine/Hybrid Combo

Quote:
Dan Lyons from the San Fransisco Chronicle liked the Saturn Vue Green Line hybrid's available features, space, and EPA rated fuel efficiency. "A combined average of 28 mpg sounds worthy of a compact car," he wrote in his review. "In a highly versatile body style like a crossover, those numbers are doubly good."

That's why I feel lucky that we stumbled upon our GL last summer, by accident. We were shopping for a hybrid Aura, but said no when the hybrid battery ate up space in the trunk. The 2007 GL VUE has been a godsend, ESPECIALLY at the pump. Even with jackrabbit starts and drag racing every one in town, I can still get better gas mileage than a standard VUE. Not bad...

I think they are having issues with the battery manufacturer. Plus the system is used in the Chevy's too so their aren't many to go around. Probably won't see the 2-mode anytime soon either, but I guess things will get worked out eventually...maybe.

If i'm not mistaken aren't VUE hybrid and the regular 4 cyl. only 2mpg. apart? If i'm correct, isn't the hybrid an embarassing rip off considering the big difference in the MSRP and the never ever mentioned battery replacement costs and the increased service and maintence costs?

The difference is actually 6 mpg between the two models:

Vue XE = 19/26
Vue GL = 25/32

I haven't heard of any increased service or maintenance for the hybrids other than the eventual replacement of the battery. All of Saturn's hybrid components are covered under a 8 year / 100,000 mile warranty. And the MSRP isn't that much more than the XE when they are similarly equipped. The Vue GL is not a bad deal, actually!

Hope that clears things up,
Charlie

Plus, if you are a US citizen and purchased a new hybrid vehicle, you will recoup much of the cost difference with a tax credit.
