2001 SL2
Default Question about ignition switch

With the car running and going down the road I can pull the keys out of the ignition switch without turning the car off. The car turns off ok and starts ok. There are no bells and whitsles going off when I take the keys out of the ignition.

Any ideas? If it needs to be replaced, and it sounds like it does, can I do it myself? Again it is not causing any problems that I know of.

Thanks in advance.

Oh almost forgot I drive a 2001 SL2.

Go to Saturn and get a new key or two cut from the key code. Make sure that they work in the ignition cylinder. Throw the old worn out one (s) away. It is not causing problems yet but eventually the key will not work in the ignition cylinder.

So it is the key wearing out? If it is that is not so bad, better than replacing the ignition.

Thanks for the reply, I will see if I can get by there sometime this week.
