Default 2006 ION2 - Inside Fuse Panel IS WHERE?

Call me stupid but...

I swear I can't find the fuse panel inside my 2006 ION2

The drivers "manual" (aka: Joke Book) describes the location as follows:

photo of actual manual page:

Here is an actual LIVE SUPER DOPLER photo of my actual car.

Notice the storm clouds forming? That's my anger. Expect lightning and atomic thunder. (maybe that's the chili)

DO I HAVE TO REMOVE THE PANEL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE PICTURE? HOW? THERE ARE NO SCREWS THAT I CAN SEE.

FWIW, my L300 has access to the side of the console like yours where Saturn was smart enough to use velcro.

my previous saturn had the fuses on the passenger side under a panel labeled FUSES. That panel, like yours, was connected with velcro. Ah, the days of Labeled panels and velcro - laugh and run away - like a child at play...

I've tried tuging on the panel, but feel I'll break it. Is that the rule? "If it breaks, you done something wrong?"

Welcome to a techs life. Nothing says that the service manuals or owners manuals need to be right all of the time.
Pull on the panel more. Steady gentle pull.

Here are pictures behind the panel

the first one shows a red fuse. PROOF POSITIVE: THERE IS A FUSE PANEL BEHIND THAT THAR WALL!

the second one shows a slightly different angle.

the pics seem to show that one pulls the panel directly out, rather than towards the front of the car AS THE Drivers Joke Book shows.

This brings to mind a question

why can't a multi-billion $$$ company like GM hire a real photographer that can produce photos better than Larry Darrell and Darell

that panel that you have been staring at for five days actually pops right off it is really easy you will not break it unless you give it way to much force when pulling i am always in mine. there is an angle flathead screwdrive it has like an 45 degree angle and the head looks like the back of a hammer pick one of those up from the store they are like 5 bucks or so and gentle stick behind panel and it will pop right off

also on that last picture you took you can see the clips perfectly. You can't miss it. It is right in the middle of the picture!

yes, that's obvious with a good picture.

I've read this forum, and have seen many people say "As it clearly says in the drivers manual". Taint necessarily so...

I'm very disappointed in what Saturn has become. Crappy manuals, crappy cars.

My 2003 Ion matches the manual. I bet they changed the design but didn't update the documentaion.

I had the same problem, I couldn't find the fuel pump fuse... This is why the owners manual is oh so useful
