I find it a bit misleading about Saturn calling itself an American Car Company when the Astra is made in Belgium, and most of the other vehicles are made in Mexico or Canada with engines from the U.S. and elsewhere...

Just a small correction: there aren't any Saturns made in Canada today. The Astra is currently built in Europe (which is rumored to change when the model is redesigned in a couple years) and the Vue is made in Mexico. However the Outlook, Aura, and Sky are made in the USA. There have been a lot of debates about what's "American" and what's not. Search the forum and you'll find them. Things aren't as cut and dry as they used to be. To me, Saturn is an American company trying to survive living in the realities brought on by a global economy.

Mickster, to spin the question the other way - are Honda, Toyota and Nissan no longer Japanese vehicle manufacturers because they build vehicles in the United States? What about Mercedes-Benz and BMW? Are they now no longer German because they build vehicles here too?

What's "American" these days is definitely up for debate but it's not just Saturn or GM that does it, all major automotive companies do this - in a global economy there's no other choice but bankruptcy.
