Default Another reason I returned to Saturn...

This may sound a bit hokey, but it is the absolute truth. I bought a '92 SC2 and drove it for over ten years. During the warranty period, I faithfully took it to the dealership for service. Every time, I was welcomed warmly by the service folks, the salesman, and the general manager of the dealership. After the car was out of warranty, I did the routine maintenance myself and only went to the dealership for transmission filters and a few unique parts. Now, I had not been inside the sales floor in over a decade when I went in back in last November to inquire about the Astra. The salesman that I purchased the SC2 from walked out, greeted me, and asked my how my red SC2 was doing. How astounding is that? First of all, the guy is still there fifteen years later, and he remembers me! It is a small thing, but I am certain I will have excellent service and support for my Astra when it shows up.

I worked for a (very) short time at a saturn store, and there was one guy there, he had been there since the beginning. problem was, he knew EVERYONE who came in, and if he had sold them a car before, NO MATTER how long ago it was, or even if he NEVER kept up w/ them, we'd have to share the sale w/ them. I sold this one car, was feeling all good about it, they never said they had ever been there before, then Bruce walks by. "hey, how's it goin?" how's your (fill in the blank). just like that, I had to split the sale w/ him.
so yeah, it's cool for the customer, but it sucks if you have to work w/ that guy.
oh yeah, if your car was a '92, it really was just an SC, not an SC2 (they changed the name to SC2 in '93)

...
for the first time in 8 years, I don't own a saturn.

My 1999 SL2 was a replacement for a 1991 Corolla. The ways in which my Saturn is a more satisfying car than my Toyota are numerous, but maybe I can put that down largely to technological advancements in the 8 years between their manufacture. What has really impressed me about Saturn (and has me on track to buy an Astra later this year) is my local dealership. Their kindness, friendliness, competence, and honesty have been remarkable. I don't think anyone there knows me by name, but that only makes their service seem more impressive (in a Good-Samaritan-helps-stranger sort of way).

Yes, I had forgotten that the SOHC coupes came out in 93. I aways called it and SC2 to differentiate it.
