"We generally like to build where we sell..."

They're implying the US but I'll bet it means North America and more specifically Mexico.

Good for keeping the price down, but presents a real rick that it will be made "more attractive to the US consumer" ...in other words, they'll make it a sucky version of the European version. Why does GM does this to us time and time again? And, ya, it'll be built in Mexico or Canada.

That depends. If there's a plant in the US that is losing it's product shortly it might be cheaper just to move the new car in there.
It could end up at Moraine to replace the Trailblazer and it's clones which are going away in 2010

From what I am told, retooling Moraine from a Body on Frame truck plant to a unibody car plant would be costly. It will most likely be shut down.

They sell plenty of Astras in Belgium (and Germany, Italy and France too!) and Mexico, The United States and Canada are the same place for GM.

Probably, any other places you know of that could handle this car?
They could try to shove it in to Lordstown because the Cobalt is moving to Mexico

Lordstown might get it. I think I remember seeing a Gama on the leaked plant plans for it.

It will not be "a suky version of the European version" those blind cost cutting days at GM are over, The lessons learned, paid for at a terrible price. General Motors de Mexico are producing some really high quality automobiles. Just look carefully at the '08 Vue.

Where ever GM decides to build the ASTRA, you can count on a well assembled, beautifly fit and finished, quality car, equal to or better than, anything our competitors can build anywhere on this planet
.

"Frankly my dear, i don't give a damn."

Sorry Rhett, what i meant to say was, i really don't care where they build it as long as they build it SOON. Were the whole truth known, I would prefer to see it built in the USA, but i do trust GM to build it right, where ever they decide to build it.:
