Default Rear Seat Audio not working with wireless headphones

My Outlook came with Rear Seat Audio (RSA) and wireless headphones and a remote contol unit. However, I don't have a DVD ceiling mounted unit. I can get the RSA to work with wired headphones but not wireless. My dealer indicates that I need the overhead DVD palyer installed to recive wireless signals. Then, why did Saturn include the wireless headsets and remote control with my Outlook? Furthermore, if I'm reading my manual correctly, wireless headphones should work.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve

Could it be a frequency issue?

My wifes Aura came with the wireless headphones (why I don't know as you are sitting almost on top of the RSA and a corded headset would work fine) and I tried them in my Outlook (mine didn't come with the wirless headphoness, why I don't know as you are sitting farther away from the RSA) but they didn't work. Did the dealer just throw them in with the purchase or does it say on the info sheet that you get them?

That was a mistake from the factory or from the dealership. You only get wireless headphone when u have the overhead dvd. The infrared signal comes from the dvd player, that is why u can't get any sound.

Thanks for both of your replies. I thought they would work since they came with the vehicle. I found them in a box under the rear storage compartment. I guess it's a factory mistake. Maybe I can sell them on Ebay.

They work with the aura because it has transmits infrared signal to the headphones with the rear audio. Look at your rear audio in your Aura and you will see about 4 red lights. These lights are sending the signal to the headphones. Now if you look in your Outlook, you don't have these lights. The lights are on the overhead dvd player not on the back of the arm console. I am a Saturn salesman so I am sure.
