Default AutoZone Claim #?

Hey everybody,

I had to submit a claim to AutoZone about 2 months ago after they sold me a bad CPS and I ended up paying Firestone $200 to tell me that's why I didn't fix my car by replacing it. I haven't heard anything since, and can't get anywhere with anybody in the local store or regional office. Anybody know the number for the claims office? It doesn't seem to be anywhere online.

Thanks,
Joel

Quit being a crybaby. Autozone is in the business of selling parts not diagnosing cars.

They didn't SELL you anything, you BOUGHT it, the blame resides on YOU.

You are looking for incidental or consequential damages, which are always excluded from any warranties. All they were on the hook for, if you got a defective part, is a replacement part.

From the way it reads, he bought a N.E.W. CPS. New in this case means Never Ever Worked. A not all that uncommon problem with aftermarket (and sometimes factory) replacement parts that has lead many a professional mechanic astray. So he believes he has a bad CPS, replaces it with a NEW CPS and still has the problem. Takes it to a professional who doesn't care what's been replaced and discoveres the new CPS is in fact NEW.

So take the bum part back to the store and get your money back.

The idea he's trying to get $200 is... well... not going to work.

Coincidentally, if the car ran, the Crank PS is/was good. Probably a classic case of "cam position sensor" trouble code, for a nonexistant part.

We've all seen and read, at one time or another, the guarantee on the sales slip and/or the part specs that comes with some components that goes something like - "This warranty, whether expressed or implied, is limited to the extent that this product is installed for personal use and not for commercial purposes nor in applications not expressly designed and installed for use of this product, and found not to be in an abused or misused condition. Any determination other than use of this product in a normal way constitutes a breach of agreement between the parties and this warranty becomes null and void immediately. Replacement, to the extent of damages that this part was used in, in our final judgement will be for defective part(s) only and is final."

I wanna know how you get a gig like that. It'd be a pretty cool job. Makes sense though these auto forums do influence a lot of people. Not near as many as they don't influence but enough to get some attention.

LMAO. The Internet is technically Big Brother...haha, anyone can see what you write.

Anyways, next time make sure the part you got actually works before spending money, if I'm sure a certain part is the problem and it doesn't fix the problem, I will take it back and get another one...some would call that OCD, I call it being damn sure.

When I got my car in July, I was going to Autozone to pick up a gas cap and as I walked up to the door I could hear yelling inside. I thought nothing of it... guessing it was employees laughing and joking with each other. When I opened the door, a black guy ran out and the white employee was coming around the counter yelling at him. He chased him outside yelling... "****ing nigger, don't you ever come back in my ****ing store! ****ing piece of ****..." etc. Then the black guy opened the passenger door on his car and started unlocking his glove compartment.

I was like Got in my car and left. I've been back there many times and the guy still works there...

I'm confused... He knew enough to go to VatoZone to get a new CPS, the replacement part may or may not have been so his troubleshooting ended and he pays someone else.

I don't see how VatoZone is responsible for anything more than maybe selling a broken part, which I'm sure they'd gladly replace.

I buy my oil @ VatoZone, parts I buy OEM.

I have to agree. Autozone had no way of knowing that the part was defective. If anyone owes him the $200, it's the manufacturer.
