Default EVAP purge solenoid

Is it normal for the EVAP purge solenoid to "rattle?"

When I'm idling with the stereo off, it's the loudest noise on the car. Not loud, just loud enough to make you wonder what it is.

It is not something that you would normally hear. At least not continuously.

It is normal for the evap purge solenoid to make a clicking noise from a cold start under low outside temperature (winter) conditions. This should go away after a short time. It does not click when idling, only when revs are increased a bit.

That's strange. I notice the clicking sound after the car is warmed up and I've been driving for a while. If I pull up to a light or I pull into the garage, I can really hear the clicking.

It the same kind of sound a PCV valve makes...that rattley clicking sound.
