Default 99 Saturn SC1 Coupe Problems

Sup?

I had some problems today. First of my car wouldnt start, which is a manual car. My battery was fine, but when i started to crank the car up, it wouldnt, all i got is the speedometer needles going up and down, but then i heard a weired noise. Its like something is stuck inside it. Could it be that i need a new starter? or some other problem. Please advice soon =D.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

What kind of weird noise? A fast clicking? Then most likely the battery is gone or on has a low charge. So bad battery or bad alternator. Could a bad starter but that is not real common.

Being a manual trans, it could also be the clutch safety switch. This will not allow the starter to engage unless you have the clutch pedal in ( failure of these switches are common to most makes)

Do you have the Saturn Security System (Remote Keyless Entry)?

If that module has problems or there are some bad or corroded connections, it can prevent clean starting, as it has ignition kill as part of the security stuff.

My '97 SC1 had an intermittent starting problem that was solved by replacing the SSS module.

I'm curious about your problem with the SSS. My daughter's SC2 is experiencing intermittent problems too. One thing is that with the key in the "run" position (not "start") it starts every time with a push (manual transmission). Did you experience that, or even have the opportunity to do so? This problem is whipping a lot of folks here. I just want to get the car fixed.
Thanks in advance for your time.
