At 180K on a 01 wagon 2.2 engine, experienced low compression on all cylinders and lost the timing chain. Currently replacing with a used engine (50K) as the car still looks and drives like new.

Original owner 2001 L300 almost going to turn 200,000. While I have had some issues, the car continues to run great. Have always maintained it on schedule although I have ran it a few times to 5K before oil changes. The car continues to run strong and I have almost as much power as when it was new, but I can't seem to get better than 22-23 miles on the highway. Was about 24-25 when new. Repairs are as follows...

Key & Steering lock replaced 7 years ago - dealer repaired
Computer system replaced 5 years ago -dealer repaired
100k maintenance - dealer repaired
Heater core replaced at 100k - dealer repaired
Struts at 150k - myself
O2 sensor last year - myself
A/C compressor replaced last Jan - Midas repaired
200k maintenance, rear oil seal, torque converter leak last month - dealer
After 200k maintenance multiple problems appeared and I think caused by the dealer...
- A/C Compressor and High pressure hose failed - dealer repaired
- Radiator leaking - replace myself
- Right CV boot broken started throwing grease around - replace new axle myself
- Heater core to heater hose leak - I will fix.

I've been very happy with this car and hope to get another 200k out of it.

My 2000 LS1 which hit 10 years old this past July has 116,000 miles. Just had a spring break so to replace both and a wheel alignment was about $500. The AC had some major componets replaced 2 years back. Runs great and looks good except for a few paint scratches.

The VUE Vti died at almost 8 years and 77,000 miles. I took the $5000 GM gave me towars a new vehilce and bought a 2010 Chevy Equinox. The Nox is far superior to the VUE.

Do your maintenance and 200,000 should be attainable. Most important being never letting the oil get down by even half a quart and regular 4,000-5,000 mile oil changes.
Our 2002 L300 has 160,000 plus on it, almost all by my wife. The automatic transmission slips a bit between 1st and second and 2nd and third. We replaced the MAF but still get the occasional zero time shift. We had the catalytic converter ceramic matrix break on the rear set of cylinders. We had to get a new body control module. And the rear power door locks are no longer power. Other than that it has been a very dependable car.
But we plan on replacing it next spring with either a 2011 Ford Fiesta or a 2012 Ford Focus. We just don't want to pay the gas bill for a six cylinder automatic.

Oh I forgot about the cps failing, but that was minor and easy to diagnose thanks to this forum.

Original owner, 2002 L200. hit 76K last weekend. Regular maintenance aside, only the ignition coils have been replaced. It's been pampered, especially in the last year.

03 L300 turning 180,000 this week. I've had it since new and wonder if it will beat my 94 Camaro V6 which had 285,000 miles before it died.

It's been a terrific car!

Bought my 2001 L-200 5-Speed last February with 141,000 miles on it and currently at 156,000.

So far, only major repair has been a fuel pump.

Just had annual State Inspection today and everything is still tight and strong!

This is my 2nd Saturn (first was a '93 SL2). I'll be keeping this one until she's dead!

My goal is to get to 150K. I'm at 95 now. In 2002, I got a very fair deal on a used 2000 LS1 with only 12K. NOT a lease replacement. I saw the car dirty, and I could have eaten off the floor, it was that clean.

Last month I had it at the dealership and the service manager started heckling me that I'd never get 150K out of the car and I'd be back in a few months shopping. He said this was because the L series is crap and it'll by by 100K. Well that's it for me an Saturn basically...but I still thinK I can get 150 out of it.
My wife has 85K on hers. Sounds like the service mgr gets a commission if he steers a customer from the service dept to the sales floor.

I agree totally.

In fact, if the service manager talked smack like that, I'd probably never go back to that particular dealership.

The fact that he's essentially wishing your car will die at 100,000 miles makes me question if they're actually doing all the service work your asking them to, or if they're doing any preventative inspections that could help prolong the life of your car.

Seriously, find another place to go as long as this jacktard is working behind the counter.

Oh, and if you do return to that dealership tell the service manager I just rolled passed 212,000 miles on my Saturn LS1 and that I said, "SUCK IT!" to his "Saturns are crap" theory.

I'd also find out who his boss is within the dealership and go to them (the owner if you have to) and tell them his employee is badmouthing a customer's car .

I'm betting when he catches wind of that you won't be seeing the service manager anymore upon your next visit because he'll be in the unemployment line - where given his attitude toward customer's vehicles he deserves to be.
