Have a thumping sensation in the steering wheel when turned. Dealer greased the steering shaft, but still have the problem. They will replace it at no charge. I have 10,000 miles on the car. Anyone have a similar problem?

Mine does it too, only when at low speeds in combination with throttle usage. Like when you turn onto another street. A quick thud which I can hear and feel. Mines going into the shop due to the SES light that hasnt gone off like they said yet. So this will be brought up. ... SGT Mark D. I just brought my 2007 XE to the dealer for the same issue. When I turned the steering wheel, espcially when backing out of a driveway or parking space, and turn it the other way, I would get a thump and feel it in the wheel and the break pedal. They said it was some loose bolts on the intermediate shaft, which they tightened. They did not have to replace anything and I had my car back inside of 1 day. That was 3 days ago, and so far, everything is back to normal. I will let you know in a week or so to follow up.
Good luck!

Intermediate shaft was the cuase of my thud when turning due to binding. Waiting for a new part to come in.

I advise you to give your dealer a call and make sure they know of the difference between the XE (electric) and XR (hydraulic) so they order the correct part. Mine didn't know there was a difference.

I'm sure the XE has hydraulic steering also. Should get the part in this week.

Had the same problem It is a intermediate steering shaft.
Dealer replaced it on 9/12 and it is fine Greasing it is only a temporay fix Once the shaft was replaced the problem went away

You would think GM would have fixed the problem by now, given the past problems.

Unless there was a mid-year change, both the 2007 Aura XE and XR have hydraulic power steering.
