Default Another Saturn for my fleet?

Looked at another Saturn today (this would make #3) for another stepchild. '97 SL2 with 120K. Clean inside, slightly cosmetically challenged outside (few scrapes). Automatic, power door locks, p windows, and remote for both windows and locks. A/C works fine.
Slight oil leak from both valve cover and PCV valve.
I don't have any repair history (I will check dealer with VIN# tomorrow). Oil filler cap was kind of cruddy. No apparent leaks of any kind under engine.
New radiator and major hoses, new exhaust (looks new from cat back).
Typical rust under passenger door sill, not too bad.
Engine runs OK, clunk in front end over bumps.
Pobably needs brake work (soft pedal is identical to other stepdaughter's 96 SL2 problems which were resolved with rear cylinders and front calipers), although stops OK.
Very minor reverse slam.
They are asking $1500. I think I can get for $1000 or less.
Any opinions?
Thank you,
Ralph

Sounds like an awesome deal to me, even for $1500... I paid way more than that for mine a month and a half ago, and it needed some maintenance.

Sounds like a great deal.
You'll probably need a new cam cover gasket, belt tensioner and serp belt.
If it's an auto tranny I'd change the tranny fluid to reduce/eliminate the minor reverse slam.
It's a 97 so I'd drop in a new ECTS and wire connector (get the brass tipped ECTS at saturn dealer).
Look in the How to library and read up on how to do this if you don't know already.
Update the stuff above and that car will run great and be very reliable.

I forgot to mention for the clunk sound on the front end you might need new lower engine dogbone mounts.
