Engine Temperature Gauge!

Does anyone know why the new 2008 Saturn Vue does not have a engine temperature gauge?

??? I was hoping the redesign would offer more instrumentation. I like a lot of information, Saturn must have felt the average VUE owner wasn't concerned over the engines temperature.

It's in the DIC. And it makes sense. Temp gauges are a fairly recent addition. There used to be nothing but idiot lights and they worked quite well in informing you of an abnormal condition. If you really need a temp gauge, then you also really need an oil pressure gauge, and a volt meter.

And truth is, lots of "temperature gauges" aren't really gauges at all, and will simply read somewhere in the center if the temperature is within specs and rise to H if it's too hot. Many don't necessarily indicate actual coolant temp anymore, but are more of an "analog" idiot light.

I would prefer full instrumentation as well, not just a T gauge...

The engine temp guage on my 06 Vue appears to be an acutal guage. I can watch it move up and down depending on the engine load and outside temp. Driving I-8 thru the mountains in S Cal, I watched it increase a little then go back down again as I got on the downhill portion of the trip on the way to San Diego. As to the temp in the DIC, mine only shows the outside air temp. Don't know if there is any way to bring up the engin temp.
