Question Hardtop Available?

Is there a hardtop (even aftermarket) top available for the Sky? I am interested in buying a Sky, but being in the Northeast and it being the only car I would have, I would like to have it for the wintertime. I know other convertibles have had them on the past, but I don't know if an aftermarket company ever makes them. Any ideas? Thanks!

There is a removable hardtop available through the aftermarket but not through GM as near as I can tell. The downside is that even the minimalistic "trunk space" cannot be accessed with the hardtop in place as it would prevent opening of the compartment. For the most part the hardtop is aimed at those that are using the cars in SCCA Club Racing or other club type events where use of a hardtop is effectively mandated because open cars are not allowed in the subject classes.

I am a firm believer in the impractibility of sports cars and argue that one must accept that if they wish to own one (we have a 1966 TR4A, 1968 TR250, 1971 TR6 and 1975 Spitfire all with the factory optional removable hardtops, obviously we accept), but the hardtop situation on the Sky and Solstice push that impractibility arguement to a further limit than most.

The assembly line is presently being readjusted to build the hard top.

Seriously, or is this another rumor?

The only way I would ever consider a Sky RL is if it had a removable hardtop.

A hardtop would be a nice addition to the Sky. I'm a bit surprised that nobody in the aftermarket has stepped up yet.

Best,

I hope it's the truth. I'd like a SKY someday, I love the open top, but ragtops SUCK, period. Removable hardtops are just genious. Best of both worlds. True coupe, and if you so choose, a convertible. Of course, the hardtop would need storage space, etc...Maybe they could do a power folding hardtop like the G6, or the new Chrysler Sebring has. Wouldn't mind that, but even so, a straight removable hardtop would be awesome!

I researched and found one website that sells after market Sky har tops, SMOOTH LINE. Cost around $1300 primed for painting. Forum members get $50 discount. $300 more will get you vinyl top in choice of 3 colors. They now have a carbon fiber option too. I'll be ordering mine in a week. I'll update this thread on quality, ease of purchase etc. after my purchase.
