Default Just wanted to say goodbye to all Saturn fans.

Hi,
Just wanted to say goodbye to all of you because I am no longer the owner of my 2008 Silver Saturn Outlook XR.

After a long consideration, I decided to trade it for a new 2011 Camaro 1SS A6.

I’ve been following the New Camaro since it was introduced as a concept back a few years ago. Since then, I knew I would buy one.

My plans were, as I always do, to wait for the ‘second year’ model before I buy. With this, I was saving money and making plans to purchase it around Feb or March of 2011, but, when I took my 2008 Saturn Outlook XR for some warranty repair, the salesman was telling me about how they are not really charging over MSRP for the new Camaros (any more).

Now around this time, I was still debating whether to keep my 2008 Saturn Outlook or use it as a trade in for my Camaro. As you know, Saturn is gone and I wasn’t sure how these newer Saturn cars would do (hold their value).

So, after talking to the salesman, I told him I would pay ‘invoice’ for a 2011 Camaro and nothing more. Well, after some negotiations, they gave me a final price of $33,650 and I agreed to it.

( I did trade in my Silver 2008 Saturn Outlook XR and I will miss it. It was very good for the most part. )

I wish all of you the best with your Outlooks. I know I will miss mine and those wonderful 3 years I owned it.

Here is a picture of my new ride:

After negotiating the deal, I managed to get $21K for my Outlook.

Initially, the dealer was offering me $19K for it. I said "NO" and got up to walk away. The purchased price for the '11 Camaro was already agreed to $33.65K They stoped me and asked me how much I WANTED for it. I told them I wouldn't take less then $22K....Things just went back and forth.......

So I caved in at $21K.

thanks,

BL

Hi,
thanks.

I still peek once in a while.

Note:
I've been reading about several 'issues' that the Acadia owners are experiencing with their vehicles.

I was actually contemplating getting a used (2009) Acadia but now.....

I really want to wait for the redesign.

BTW: I am enjoying my new Camaro. All that power...and the styling is great. I get lots of looks from everyone, especially the kids...who continually say "Hey, that's bumblebee".

As I have owned an Outlook and now an Acadia, I am curious as to the problems with the Acadia you are concerned about.

HI,
Ive been reading the Acadia forum on edmunds.com. Most of the problems that I've read are regarding engine/transmission issues and 'bad' gas mileage.

On my 2008 Saturn, I used to get pretty close to the sticker (gas mileage) which was about 16 city and 24-25 Hwy.

Several Acadia owners are getting around 10 -12 city and about 16-18 Hwy. That's really bad.

When I read the Acadia.net location, you will see some common issues mention here (Water leak, headlight wiring harness and Transmission issues.

acadia problems are the same as outlook problems......power steering.....headlight harness........sludged up engine and timing chain..i think those are the big three. id like to think on newer ones some of the problems have been fixed....

I'd like to think some of the problems have been fixed too, but I can't get a straight answer from my service writer about the timing chain issues. My late 2008 build date 2009 Traverse had the timing chain issue requiring the engine removal in December. My service writer says they do about 1 a week lately (Acadias and Traverses). I have another year on my Traverse lease, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it (I have a great buy-out price negotiated, but I'm not sure I want it unless the new timing chain has been re-designed). He did at least say that the engine wasn't sludged up when they had it apart. it has about 26,000 miles on it.

A better site I would look at is the acadiaforum.net and the sister sites enclaveforum.net, traverseforum.net, and saturnoutlookforum.net. funkar is right that the problems were across the board on all the Lambdas. Gas mileage is a touchy subject as most of the problems depend on the driving habits of the owner. In town I get 13 to 14 because there is not a lot of highway driving in town here, lots of stop and go, so on... On the highway I get 22 to 28 depending on the conditions. This is what I get on my 09 Acadia with the 3.6 DI engine that I got on my non DI engine in the Outlook. I have been trouble free except for the steering shaft noise on my 09, which I also had on my 07 Outlook.
