Default Confused on Saturn Status

WOW - been years since I looked at saturns - last owned an L200- loved this site for information - loved the L200 - but broke the timing chain at 29,000 miles bent valves - got it fixed - drove another 10,000 miles - then car was totaled in accident -

Anyhow - now looking at 2007 Aura XR 3.6L with 29,000 miles (scary) -
First question : Does the remainder of the 5yr/100k mile powertrain still transfer to me since Saturn is going out of business ?

Second - like my L200 - Is there any MAJOR known issues with the Aura XR I should know about - just came back to the site - will start to research the user threads
THANKS for ANY Information in advance.

Yes, it will transfer and warranty repairs can be made at any GM dealer.

The 5 years is from date of original purchase by the first owner. So, you probably have 1.5-2 years left

The only Major issue seems to be replacing the Intermediate Shaft on most Aura's, but maybe the car your looking at had it done under warranty already

The AURA is a GREAT car!

If you find the perfect AURA for yourself, perhaps check with a GM dealer as they should be able to pull up info about any type of recall and warranty work that may have been done (if need be, write down the VIN# and take it to the dealer).

If you intend on purchasing from a private party, ask to be able to take it to a SERVICING GM dealer to have it looked over (unless the seller has extensive service records they're willing to pass along with the sale of the car).

However, if I recall correctly, some members here have stated that not all GM dealers are willing to service a Saturn, in particular, to perform "warranty" work. I think several stated they were Chevrolet dealers.

Perhaps check your immediate vicinity for GM dealers and whether they'll service Saturns and perform warranty work.

Good luck and keep us updated on your findings / purchase.

Any GM dealer is authorized to work on Saturns and honor the warranty. If they tell you they aren't they don't know what they are doing - go away quickly.

I use the GMC dealer that I got my Acadia from. Chevy is the recommended I think only for advertising purposes by GM. I have called all the GM dealers around me and they will all do the work needed.

If you can swing the price difference I would look for an 08. I've read many on this thread with various problems on the 07 (first year bugs). My wifes is an 08 and not had any problems what so ever.

Good luck.
