Default Key Fob battery problem

Can anyone help me with replacing the battery in my key fob? I've done it about a hundred times (literally) but each time I put it back together it lasts for a day or so and then the battery and its retainer clip come loose. It's starting to drive me crazy.

The battery itself is fine. Its the retainer clip (or whatever its called) that seems to be causing the problem. It has little prongs that insert into the circuit board but not very far. Any serious bumping or jostling of the key fob will cause the clip and battery to come loose again.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong? Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have a solution for you. Take a small peice of thin foam tape, placing sticky sides together and place between the back of the battery and the back of the cover. This will hold it in place so it wont come loose. Just make sure the clip is where it is suppose to be. My girlfriends colbolt key fob did the same thing... Also, you may just try using the second fob, and use this as the back up, just to help...

Hope this helps.

I and others have had the problem. The solder is weak or not enough for the clip to the circuit board. Take it out and solder the pin back on the board and you'll be good.

Thanks for the prompt responses. I will try the foam tape trick (as I am not real handy with solder).

I did try the second key fob and am having the exact same problem with it.

Thanks again to both of you.

I had the same problem with mine. Had to resolder the battery clip to the circuit board. In fact, I've done this twice now to repair it. Poor design!

Ditto on the solder.

I resoldered both of my fobs and had to do my sisters older Mali-poo fob as well.
