Default Doors auto lock @ 20mph?

My wife and I bought our Aura slightly used, and we love it...

One thing that's bugging me is every other GM I have ever driven would auto lock the doors @ 20mph if you unlock them, our Aura does not...
I looked through the manual and I saw how to disable and enable different locking features but not auto lock while driving.

I assumed the prev owner may of disabled this feature, but I don't see any way to turn it back on...

Anyones Aura auto lock while driving?
And does anyone know how to enable it?

Thanks for any info in advance.

it is part of the DIC. you have to get into the setup menu and you can set it there. i forgot how to get there, it is in the manual. it can lock with the gear shifter or the key if i am not mistaken.

Yeah it locks when put into gear, but if a door is not closed or it's unlocked it will not auto lock at speed like my blazer does, my mothers pontiac, and my fathers pontiac.
My friends tahoe also locks @ 20mph, as does his brothers surban.

I was hoping it was in there somewhere, i was told my Aura was owned by the dealer as a demo kinda thing, but it may of also been a rental if the salesman lied to me... so it may of been changed.

I guess I don't understand, do you not want them to lock until you hit 20mph? If they lock when you put them in gear, and let's say you drop your wife off at a store, without putting the car in park you manualy unlock the doors. When you start to accelerate again they should lock again. That's the only movement locking that I am aware of. This was the same on my Outlook and now my Acadia. May not be like your old cars because the technology has changed.

All of the other GM's my family has had including my 03 blazer lock when put into drive, and if unlocked the doors will auto lock at 20mph.

the Malibu I had for a rental did, and I'm hoping my Aura has the feature.

My Ford's both auto-lock at about 15 mph. That is about 2 seconds after I hit the gas pedal on my Freestyle. And about 0.005 seconds after I hit the gas pedal on my Mustang GT.

Now, since the only auto-lock choices you have on the Aura is ON or OFF (it ain't gonna be able to be programmed to happen at 20 mph no matter what you do), your options are to learn to live with it or trade the car. There are no after-market "kits" or software fixes to make the Aura behave any differently.

I agree that having to unlock the doors every time you just move the car a few feet, if you change the gear selector from Park to Reverse or Drive (like backing out of the garage or moving your car in the parking lot), is a bit of a pain. And, also unlike my Fords, the inside driver's door handle will not open/unlock the door unless you push the unlock button 1st. Sigh, such is life...decisions, decisions...

I'll 2nd several of our fellow forum members in validating that you cannot change the "speed interval" at which the doors lock. Once you put the Aura in gear, the doors will lock at approx. 2 mph. The only way to alter any door locking / unlocking behavior is via the DIC and only to change whether the all or only the drivers door locks when putting the car in "P". I fumbled with it last night just to check in response to this post. I further agree, it's a pain...

Worth a shot, it would be nice if it would relock at speed, but it does lock when it's put into gear, and unlock when put into park.

I set my locks to NOT unlock when I put the car into "P" for safety reasons. Someone could just walk up to your car and open the door when you've got your mind on something else and your hands full. Sounds a bit paranoid but it could happen. I've also got my locks set to only open the driver's side when unlocking with the FOB - fewer doors for a would-be criminal to surprise me when I might not be paying attention for something like that to happen.

I have the same thoughts, and this is my wifes car...
I have had people come up in the blind spot to try and get into my car...
I had a friend that had his doors unlocked and someone got in and mugged him at knife point, and to drive him somewhere...

she is not as anal about how the locks are set as I am, I have noticed her driving around with the doors unlocked due to her putting the car into drive or reverse before one of the doors close...

Part of why I want the doors to relock at speed like all of the other GM's my family owns including mine.

Why program that when it is already there - Press once and drivers opens, press twice and all open.

There is something wrong with your system if after the in gear and a door is open already the doors don't lock. As I stated earlier my Acadia and my wifes Aura will lock as soon as you start to roll after a door is shut. Here is my only other thought about the doors not locking until in motion at 20, what if you have a child in the back seat and they open the door before you are going 20? You talk about this as being a safety feature and I think that having them lock when in gear is even more safety.

This is not the only door lock thread here or other sites. And I can't help but wonder how we all didn't die before the advent of auto door locks. When you had to reach around the car to lock and unlock all the doors.

Just my 2 cents.

You're right. I was thinking of the unlocking process from the inside when putting the car in "P" and I jumbled my thoughts when I wrote it.
