Default Compliment today

I pulled into a crowded event with my '96 and when I stopped next to a cop that was directing traffic, he put his arms out to his sides, got a big grin on his face and said, "Man, that's a 'beautiful' old Saturn. What year is it?"

I said, "A '96 and it's still the best car I ever owned." He said it really looked great. I thanked him of course.

It made me feel pretty good. I guess my car has finally reached that age when it starts to get noticed and appreciated a bit.

BTW, I waved at every cop I saw today (all waved back). I figured they could use a little love right about now.

Very nice.
I never really got any compliments on my 96 SL2, but I feel its a great looking car even still.

Every time I part with a Saturn its not long before I want another one. Always gen 2 of course.

Thanks everyone, for commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Good point about that cop maybe being a Saturn owner. I would have asked him, but traffic got going pretty quickly.

I agree that the S is a great looking car. I wish I could stumble onto a real cream puff, with around 25k or 35K miles (or more even), you know...owned by the little old lady that only drove it to church on Sunday. I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

I see at least 1-2 old person Saturn's a month. Low miles, but half the time scratches all down the sides, lol!

Thanks! Yes and in a year, people are going to be asking why my two year old Subaru is covered with door dings and my 21 year old Saturn still looks perfect.

SLfun, interesting. Now that I think of it, I rarely ever see any '96s. I do see a few of the later models though.
