Default Cigarette Lighter

Is it possible to change the wiring on my cigarette lighter so that it turns off when the ignition is turned off?

I have to constantly turn my GPS on and off at the switch. I have left it on by accident several times and don't want to run the risk of draining my battery.

Thanks!

the power jack in the backseat is on constantly too..

only way i can think of is to mess with the wiring in the fuse box that has the fuse for the cig lighter and aux jack.

I've never done it but maybe you can split the 12 volt yellow acc for the stereo and run it for the cigarette lighter?

I don't know if it would pull too much voltage from the wire though. It might screw up the radio if you pull too much voltage.

I noticed that on my '00 Saturn ls2 as well the cell charger led was on and all I did was unplug it. If your not using the GPS just unplug it but save your data before you do that and just plug it back in when you use it. My question is do you really need the GPS that badly to have it turned on 24/7?

another option

which i do with my GPS, unplug the cig lighter adapter from the cig lighter, GPS promts do you want to turn off or stay on (counts down to shut off), No touching the GPS switch,

GET IN THE CAR

plug the adapter back in, no touching the GPS switch, bam its back on.

any bypass you do is going to require you still keep it on a fuse.
