Question Motor mounts for L-series

Out of curiousity:

For Saturn techs who has in-depth L-series knowledge:

The V6 motor mounts (strut + cradle?) look impossible to replace without dropping the whole powertrain first, in fact how will you guys do it in case someone need the motor mounts replacement?

What about the Ecotec mounting system?

ughh.. im not a tech, but its hell. Turns into an all day event.

My motor mounts were replaced at about 22k miles. This was the proposed solution for my strrange reverse-up-a-hill rubbery rubbing sound.

Havent heard of another L series that had this issue. Any idea what causes this? Were they just bad mounts?

THey usually treat them like an S car.. there is a brace that they attach to the lifting eyes on the motor to support it, then they let loose with the other crap.

Roll Eyes

Supporting the V6 motor seems doable, question is there's NO SPACE for tools (That's what I'm thinking!) to reach the bolts.

It's indeed look like hell for future maintanence of this car at home. I better baby it.

Lboy, are you kidding? 22k miles and you need new mounts already, I don't think motor mounts are one of the warranty items, aren't they?
And they need a whole day to get the job done, wow! :o:
