Default These OBX headers have a problem with the downpipe, Can someone help me?

I had bought these OBX headers from ebay like in january, i tried to put them on a while back and had a problem with the DOWNPIPE hitting against the engine block, i have a picture, is there a way i can put these on without cutting the downpipe or bending it? I hear of a bracket of some sort, but i cant get any other answers, i really appriciate it if i got an answer, thanks alot!

Time to get your refund to resell it on ebay.

If the downpipe is hitting the engine block, you can either modify the downpipe or the block. Since you can't modify the block, you're left with the donwpipe. You're not willing to cut or bend the pipe, well, too bad, don't bolt it up.

Oh, by the way. Welcome to the forum.

Uh yeah OBX headers are not one of the preferred brands to be putting on an S-series.

It's best to just get yourself a 91-92 header/downpipe combo for your engine (SOHC or DOHC), clean it up, paint it, and install with all new hardware.

Check out this thread for some more details:

I think you may have gotten a 99-02 header or something. AmazingHL is right, either cut it and reweld it or just get an OEM header from a 91-92.

good luck

Bolt-up to the head would be different (9-stud instead of 5).

the Header itself fits, it bolts to the head just fine! But the downpipe is what im having trouble with, i mean the headers on it look awesome, i just wish the downpipe would fit, is there a way that i can get ust the DOWNPIPE from a 91-92 SC2 and use it with the OBX Header?

Can't say for sure, but most likely, no. Remember, they're both 4-2-1 systems, and in both cases, there are two parallel pipes at the joint between the header and downpipe. Seems exceedingly unlikely that the OBX system would be designed in exactly the same shape and position at that joint as the OEM.

try getting a quote from a muffler shop. They can bend the pipe with a mandrel bender and it wont be damaged at all. If you need to, then get a hammer and pound it down a little. By the way, you do need to fab a bracket to hold it onto the engine, or whenever the engine moves from high revs, it'll put stress on the studs for the exhaust header.
