Default Ignition Coils

On my 95 SL1, when i replaced my plug wires I noticed a hite corrosion on a few of the coil towers. I sanded them down therfore removing all corrosion, hen i checked today...more corrosion. I doubt the coils have ever been replaced so im thinking about replacing them, what affect will the corrosion have on how the car runs? with ne coils will the car run/operate more smoothly? -thanks

Gently sand coil tower tips with sandpaper until shiny...coat with dialectic grease. Sand bolts to coil packs. Clean by sanding any corosion off dis modules under coil packs.

Corosion leads to arcing of spark from /wires/ coil tower tips / coil pack bolts and dis modules. You'll get sluggish performance, hesitation and the engine
will miss.

Remove the coil packs and ignition module, and thoroughly clean all the ground contact areas on the tranny, the ignition module and the coil packs. Visit wolfman's gallery for pics of what needs to be cleaned. Better ground contact MIGHT prevent further buildup on the coil towers.

Check the resistance between the towers of each coil pack. When they're clean, it should be between 7 and 10 K Ohms.
