Default Manual Trans rebuild?

What should I do to the manual trans from my 97 SC2 when it's out of the car? It has 135k on it and seems to shift fine, but if there is anything preventative I could do while its out that would be great. I know the diff pin is the biggest problem, should I get that welded? I could probably find someone to weld it for me but I don't look forward to tearing the whole thing apart just for that. Is it worth it? Would I expect to find a local transmission shop that can do a good job with it? I don't mind paying if I know it will be done properly. Thanks!

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
