Just throw a couple Hellcats in it and you're good to go.

Visit these sites:

www.zzperformance.com

Based in Missouri, an awesome shop that does all GM upgrades/racing stuff.

www.fmsrperformance.com

This guy is based in Easton, Pennsylvania. You can literally build a custom L61 or LNF from scratch with this guy (if you have the coin for that). He does custom transmissions too.

Keep in mind though that doing any kind of drivetrain modifications will affect other systems of the car and overall driveability. My advise is to have a long term plan in mind for what you want to do before you start throwing parts at the car. Otherwise, you will be in for a Hell of a headache down the road.

Personally, I have spent the last several years doing research and upgrading all other systems on my Ion so that it can handle the horsepower that I am planning on throwing in to it.

Hopefully this sets you on the right path. Good luck.

avoid fmsr. he has a few lawsuits out on him for not delivering parts/builds that people have paid for.

03/04 is pretty useless to mod since they dont have tuning support without going to a piggyback system

The l61 can be built to 1000hp, there's even a build book from gm how to do it. The easiest/most cost effective thing is to mood the existing engine. With just a few parts, top shelf fluids, and a tune you can get around 200hp out of the 2.2 (especially with e85 or premium) and keep 100%of the reliability with imo a more lively package than a stock lsj.

trifecta dealer for the U.P. and WI. There is no two door ion. Proudly driving one of the last saturns produced before gm killed the brand.

has been for years. only way to guarantee anything is to go to his shop and pick it up the same time you pay.

There's not really any point to go over 450. It gets expensive with gridle/sleeve modification. Plus the fuel system, ect. There's nobody that tunes 05-06s anymore so you need to go standalone now.

This car can be very reliable at 400-450hp but it's not easy on transmissions. I just currently put in a smaller 8lb wastegate Spring so I don't wreck anymore transmissions.

Remember you need more crank case venting at these power levels, get the adapter/breather that screws into where the oil cap goes.

already had everything planned and a good chunk of the stuff needed purchased. had a quote for the ms3 parts/kit i would have needed. just dont want a fwd anymore. my block is sleeved and i had no issues spending the money on it. going to keep the engine, turbo stuff, and the fueling upgrades i bought to do a rwd project of sorts.
