Default 3rd gen radio install

Looks like poop! No wonder people want OEM style radios, the Metra/Scosche kits for 3rd gens just plain SUCK!

Maybe I'm just become spoiled by the triple-DIN openings (quad-DIN if you remove the HVAC controls) Subaru's have that don't require anything other than a harness adapter to install a stereo.

Think the stereo is a Pioneer DEH-1100MP, maybe that's the issue...but the Scosche bezel is all boxy and straight-edged when the car's bezel is rounded and smooth.
It looks better than the hacked up 2nd gen looking pocket that was shoved under the radio and total lack of anything around/above the radio so it's got that going for it...lol

Get rid of that piece of junk, and go find a pick and pull that has one of the radios in this thread:http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=193877

The work that Kingrex had to do to fit the 3rd Gen was nothing compared to what I had to do, and His install looked WAAAAY Better.
The radio itself is of superior quality to most aftermarket radios anyway, and you'll find that the radio I and He used are Panasonics.
The one I ended up with from the pick and pull was a 6 CD changer, ALL IN THE RADIO, and the sound is better than I've ever heard in any factory radio environment.
Especially when you consider the age.
Oh, It cost me $22.50 for the radio.
I can't sing the praises high enough (even if I could sing ) about this upgrade.

Only thing the pioneer is missing, other than looks, is a USB-in port on the front. Maybe bluetooth as well, but I don't use my phone like that enough to worry about it.

If those '06+ units are multi disc MP3 I'll be looking into getting one, maybe from the same yard I get a subframe from sometime soonish. The multi-disc MP3 capability would help make up for the lack of a USB port, but it'll take a ton of CD's to match my 64GB thumb drive I've got in my Forester...

The CD player in mine isn't MP3. I burned a MP3 CD and it didn't work.
I burned 4 CD's with some of my music on them at 8x and they work perfect.
It has a 3.5mm Aux Input.
So I can play music out of my phone if i want, and even better, when I'm streaming a radio show from Florida, the quality is perfect.
