Default Saturn S-Series bumper decal

Hi folks -

Can anyone give me some insight as to where I can obtain a bumper decal for a first-generation (91-96) Saturn SC? I've called two "Authorized Saturn Service Centers", and they were unable to help me. Searches on eBay proved futile. I'm going to try another dealership tomorrow morning (they converted to a Chevrolet dealership about a month after Saturn announced plans to fold), but this seems akin to finding a needle in a haystack....

Steve

I'm not sure what type of Decal you may be referring to....

I've been an owner since 97 and I don't recall there ever being any type of decal on the back end of a Saturn at all...

???

good luck. I got them for my 92 SC and 96 SC2 from my Saturn retailer a long time ago before it closed and became a Chevy dealer and "Authorized Saturn Service Center." your best bet is former Saturn retailers that have leftovers.

To make sure I understand...
I am looking for the lettering stickers that go into the "SATURN" recesses in the rear bumper.

Still available? maybe at dealers?

the reason I ask is the paint shop did not refinish the crud out of the recesses in the rear bumper and it looks like HLL

The painter said he would put stickers in the recesses (although the roughness will show thru)

I'll bet he used to build model cars without trimming the sprue off the pieces

I found this one:

http://www.autotrimdesign.net/detail...P2__10215.html

which is a little pricey, but I remember sometime back that several owners on here got them and liked them.

Or, if the 2nd gen is the same as the first, there is this one:

http://www.customcargrills.com/products.asp?cat=23

After that, you may be talking "custom made" for your car.

Thank you!
I called the paint shop and told the owner he can stop torturing the painter (painter he said he was going to try to mask it and paint the lettering...mask to what? ...how wide?)

FYI: This morning, I went to the local Chevy Dealer/Sat Service Center and the parts guy could not find any mention of lettering stickers...and he looked for at least 10 minutes. - So it's not like he brushed me off.

Bought 3 of the flat ones (the hoarding has only just begun will keep the spare stickers next to the stash of non-hybrid seeds)

Thought about it after noticing the sticker crud was not centered in the recesses (the last guy did not install them correctly)

So, it seemed like the flat Vinyl stickers would not stay stuck...

...so...bought three sets of the puffy decals in silver-metallic 'cause they seem like they would stay stuck.

I remember the lettering you are talking about - you should be able to get a shop that cuts the vinyl window graphics to cut the same thing out of vinyl pinstripe material. I would trace use charcoal pencil and paper to trace it and then take that into one of these shops.

This place has a walk up counter where they can scan and make what you want - am sure there are a ton of places on the web that can do the same thing nowadays. It should be a 1/8" or 3/16" wide stripe.

Good luck.

Good luck.
In addition^, you could emboss a few layers of heavy aluminum foil.

(flat stickers already showed up. they look good)

I can help! I know what you are talking about, the stripe that runs in the groove around the whole car except the area for the rear license plate area. That stripe was on all the 1991 - 1992 SCs and 1993 - 1996 SC2s. On my 1996 black SC2 there was a gold stripe that ran around the car. It started to look faded, chipped, and cracked. So I removed it and replaced it with a red stripe, just like on the 1996 "classic" SC2.

It took me a while to get the old stripe off, it seemed to come off in lots of little pieces. Then I cleaned up the old adhesive using bug/tar remover (which also took a long time), washed the car, and applied the new stripe. I temporarily removed the front license plate bracket to make the job complete.

The stripe I bought was made by TrimBrite, 1/4" inch wide, 40 feet long, and cost just $4 or $5 at Advance Auto Parts. It fit perfectly into the groove. It looks like it comes in the following colors:
  • black
  • silver
  • red
Here is a link to it, hopefully it will work.

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web..._A|GRP2017____

Bonus - the pin stripe came with a small rectangle of pin striping, maybe 4 inches by 2 inches. I used that to make matching emblems, and I did this with the chrome metal ones used on the IONs.

Later when the weather cooperates I'll take a picture of the whole car and post them to this thread. For now here is the area behind the front right wheel, with the original emblem and with my homemade emblem.
