Default 2009 VUE 6 spd vs 4 spd

I have a 2009 VUE with the 4-cyl, 4-spd combination. I can't help but look at the improved fuel economy that the Chevy Equinox gets with the 4-cyl, 6-spd combination. My question is whether the VUE would get the same 33mpg highway economy with a 6-spd tranny.

Now, the more complicated question is whether the 4-cyl VUE could accept a 6-spd tranny from another Saturn vehicle.

Welcome to the forum. If GM had kept Saturn the 4cyl Vue probably would have gotten a 6 speed tranny and achieved similar mileage to the Eak. But that's a mute point now. Don't know if a 6 speed tranny from another Saturn will fit a Vue. Various members on this forum have tried swapping trannys in older Vues (such as VTi to 5 speed manual) but, to the best of my knowledge, no one has pulled it off cleanly.

Saturn has a vehicle with a 6 speed transmission?

...
Not a Saturn.

Yes.

When I was shopping for the VUE, the 6-cyl VUEs all came with the 6-spd. You can go to the Saturn website saturn.com/tools/cpo/showroomByYear.do?modelId=549

Bellhousings won't be the same between the V6 and Ecotec models.

I have heard of one VTi-->5spd swap that was done successfully. It can be done smoothly if you have a donor vehicle to swap all the required parts from. However, both transmissions were meant to bolt onto the ecotec, making it fairly straightforward.

You are correct. The web site does list a 6 speed transmission for the 2008 Vue, though I am not sure if that is correct. I do remember hearing about Auras coming with 6 speed trannies. Again, I would think that the odds of doing what you want to do are not favorable.

Since the Ecotec in the Saturn is probably the same Ecotec that is in the Equinox, wouldn't it be possible to take the Chevy tranny and bolt it into the VUE?

Probably, but there would be no computer that would recognize it in the Vue's chassis.
