Default SL Sedan Auto Trans problem..????

I have a 2001 Sl Sedan. This may be normal but am not sure. My car seems to shift too soon at times, and not at others..?? When I'm driving along it's fine, but if I'm on the highway for instance, I come to a hill, it doesn't want to downshift unless I put it almost to the floor. If I pass a car in passing gear, when it upshifts it seems to miss 3rd and go right into o/d. There is no clunking or banging or hardshifts. It's just a strange thing that maybe I'm not used to. It does rev high if I'm driving hard. Shifts from 1st to 2nd at around 4500 rpm and so on, otherwise it's normal. Just mainly the hill thing whilst on highway. Any ideas? Or am I paranoid...lol

Default Re: SL Sedan Auto Trans problem..????

I also have one that does the same thing and strangley enough my mothers Olds Alero does the same thing.
Best thing you can do without pulling your hair out is to just shift it manually.
When a Saturn auto trany works good it is nice but when they act up they are a major pain in the you know what, best solution I have found is avoid the automatics all together and stick with a manual which has none of the problem causing electronics and will last longer, cost less in the long run and get you improved mileage as well.
