Default Why black interior?

What is the deal with black interior? Between the heat and the dust, I don't understand why anyone would want it. A lot of the Outlooks I see on the lots have black interior. I'm not buying a car w/black interior, no matter how sweet the deal.

To each it's own. Black looks more high tech... I'll buy it again in a heartbeat.

Black turned out to be the most forgiving interior color I ever owned. My last two cars were all black except the ceilings... I don't find it any better or worse than a grey or beige interior...

Light interiors tend to get dirty very quickly no matter how bad you want to prevent it, especially when it comes to leather. Black gets dirty with the same pace, but this is not even near as visible as with light interiors. IMO this is the main reason most people to prefer black/dark over light interior.

Yep, that's why we have a black interior. I've had tan and gray interiors before, and they all end up looking dingy and permanently dirty, whereas the black interiors just need a vacuum and dusting and they look good as new.

We had the same problem. Our L200 had black interior and it was always so hot and it faded on the doors. When we got our Outlook I wanted light interior because I thought it would be cooler and not fade. The black always showed all of the dust and what ever the kids drag in. We weren't able to get light interior on the Outlook but a friend got tan in her Buick Enclave.

Our final conclusion:

The light shows the stains faster, but not the dust and little things.
The black shows all of the dust and whatever, but hides the stains better.

So I guess it is a horse a piece. But I can vacuum my black interior and it looks great again. (But it is still hot when we get in.)

it all goes back to inside or outside everyone likes different colors. if everyone was the same they would only make one color.

I have noticed lately that some vehicles have a nice compromise between light and dark. If you get the light interior on a Ford Flex, the seats, lower dash and much of the door panels are light but the carpeting, always prone to the most staining, is dark, as are all the kick panels near the floor. I think that's the smart way to go. I've even noticed that new Buick Lucernes with the cashmere interior now have dark taupe carpeting. Now if only we could get GM and the rest of the industry to stop using crappy, course duffle bag fabric in their interiors...

I like at least a dark dash to cut down on the sunlight glare. I live in Florida. I'm used to the dark dashes on my Aura & Outlook. I had a Malibu for a rental with the light gray dash & I thought I was going to go blind.
