Default Any ideas?

K, found a nice pioneer sub unit bolted to the inside of a Cobalt today, and was wondering if anyone out there had ideas on which wires do what?

I think this may be a factory install, but not sure.

Only 4 wires, I'm guessing right and left channels, but want to make sure.

Touch the wires to a C cell (or other 1.5V battery) and see when the
speaker cone moves. And make note of the polarity while you are at
it. The cone should move outward when the positive lead is connected
to the + side of the battery. If your sub has a dual voice coil then you'll
obviously want to make sure both channels are in phase.

This technique is also a good way to trace down which wires go to
which speaker if you don't have a factory harness adapter with
labeled leads.

WARNING: DO NOT USE 12V VEHICLE POWER FOR THIS TEST.
YOU WILL BLOW THE SPEAKER.

I believe that is a dual voice coil sub woofer. You have two positive and two negatives. But simply removing the speaker would reveal that.

I saw one of those listed as an OEM Saturn S-Series subwoofer on Ebay. I know the S-Series never came with a sub, I wonder how well it will fit?

Colbalt and Ion are cousins so it may very well be a factory unit for a Ion

Just looked it up in the FSM. It is a dual voice coil subwoofer. It came with option code UQ3 for the Cobalt. No such option for the ION, but I'm sure it would fit.

soon as I remove the two 95 to 02 DOHC auto trannies from the trunk of my 95 SL today, I'm gona see how well that sub sits in There. It may be a quick and easy to get alitte bass,

I'm quite shocked that (pioneer saturn) hasnt poped up on this one yet.

And thank you very much for the wire color code.

My brother picked up something similar, a kicker box from a SRT-4. He put in a 10 Kicker CVR and that sucker hits pretty good.

Get some pics of the fitment. S-Series trunks never changed much.
