Default Spring Cleaning

This afternoon I decided to clean up the inside of the car. Got out the vacuum, cleaners, rags, etc. When I cleaned out the trunk, I noticed that the trunk floor board seemed to be warping up at the edges. Investigating, I pulled up the floor. There was about 2" of water in the spare tire well The insulation on the bottom of the floor board was wet and hanging down. I removed the spare tire and drilled two holes in the floor to drain the water out. I discovered it is very easy to remove the trunk floor by folding the front seats and pulling up on the velcro flap attachment. The floor is made of hardboard (wood fibre board). I put this on the floor of my workshop with the dehumidifier. When it dries out I will re-glue the insulation and repace in the trunk. I think this was caused by a buildup of leaves, maple keys, etc. in the groove between the back window and the trunk lid. It may have pushed on the gasket and opened up the seal. After cleaning, it appeared that the gasket sealed OK.

Default Re: Spring Cleaning

I have to park under an oak tree and the same thing happens to me. I clean it out every other week or so though. I hate trees.

Don't do what you can't undo until you've considered what it is you can't do once you've done it.
