Default Radio Install

I want to install an aftermarket stereo in my 95 SL2. How do you remove the housing to remove the radio?

Look on the bottom towards the back of the housing....towards where your feet go. There are two clips. Push the center of the clips in, remove the clips. The housing will come off to reveal the 7mm screws holding the radio in.

Clips? Isn't this a gen-2 sneak-preview dash? There should be two push-center rivets, one on each side of the surround. To remove them without destroying them, push the center-pin IN. This will allow you to pull the whole rivet out. Once both rivets are out, the surround will come away, held only by the wiring to the top switch pod.

To re-use the rivets, push the center-pins back out so they're sticking ABOVE the surrounding rivet head. Push the rivets into place, and then push the center pin so it's FLUSH with the head. In this position, the rivet is locked into place.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
