So it will fit, you just have to swap an ecotech in first.

Sorry guys, I just searched for the part number someone posted. The first few hits came up NLA, so I assumed it was the right part, and posted the link when I found one available....apparently that page was trying too hard to sell me something since it brought up another part.

I'd delete that post, but I'm not seeing where I can do that.

I guess I should check the one S-series in my local yard to see if it has one... you guys are scaring me with all this cold start competition talk. I didn't have a problem last year, parking outside with my 454.

If you check the Polar Vortex thread I think you will find evidence that a good S Series will start in some awfully cold temperatures, no help needed! But surely it can't be doing the car any good.

The 91-97 part number is 21008547 but you'd be hard pressed to find one. The two are very similar and only changed to accommodate changes made to the engine block; the slot location and bolt location are different.

Take a look a this thread on the modifications required to fit a 98-02 block heater onto a 91-97 engine block >> Engine Block Heater.

Post 7 of this thread has a helpful modified factory sketch that is helpful too >> 1993 Saturn S-Series Block Heater

No - the ones I speak of are for a Saturn S series. NIB with all parts and instructions.

Oh, I see now. You were agreeing the link was to the wrong part and additionally you also have a line on 2 NIB 98-02 block heaters which you PM'd the information to the original poster. I read your post completely differently than you intended.

Waiex191 is also seeking a block heater if you don't mind forwarding the information to him as well.

No worries, we've all posted in haste. Not trying to pile on, just wanted to be sure the OP saw one of the posts that it was not the right part before he ordered it.

Hard 15-minute limit on editing posts. Probably done because on some forums, someone gets cheezed off, goes back and deletes every post they ever made with good tech content.

Been driving an S series in the MI winters since 2009. Zero problems starting related to cold weather. Now, opening the door and seeing out the windows when there is a sheet of ice covering the car, that's another matter.

Would I buy a block heater if I ran across one? Sure, who doesn't like warm oil in the morning but I am not going out of my way to look for one. I'd use it maybe a few days out of the year.

Synthetic base 5w30 is OK down to -30C (about -20F)
