2005 ION-1 Sedan
Default Please Help 05 Ion Clicking sound

This may be kind of odd but I have a 2005 Saturn Ion 1/63,000 miles. Everytime when I turn the car off regardless if its warm or cold temp outside I will hear a metalic click or tick once from under the hood. I will come back to my car in about 15 minutes and I will hear a tick one time again. At first I though maybe it was just the exhaust cooling off. however it comes from the front by the engine and cant pin point it. Well the other day when I was sitting at a light while the car was running I heard the click again. This time was when the car was running. Its bugging the hell out of me,lol. Could this be a sign of a fuel pump going bad? or just normal. Just had the car inpected.

Once more question when the car is running I will hear a slight faint whistling sound..??
Any ideas/input/help would be appreciated!! Thank you dj

There's an electric fan up there too, I think.

Not that it is the fan - just that things go on even after car is turned off.

snakes - the whistling sound you hear when the engine's on is most likely coming from the alternator, especially if the sound changes in pitch when you rev the engine. All of the Saturns I've owned, S-series and Ion alike, made this noise - it's normal. It reminds me of the Batmobile sound effects in the 1960s TV show.

sound while car is on could be your a/c clutch engaging and disengaging (which is normal).
