Making progress fdryer,

Thanks again for all your help! The Red Wire WINS. I will update again as I move further.

Please take your time and when all's finished and working, perhaps some final images of your setup and descriptions to control inverter power can close this thread for a successful mod. Sharing mistakes or a successful modification is always appreciated from anyone interested in how mods can be made without damaging the existing electrical system.

fdryer,

I have moved forward quite a bit since my last post. I tapped into the red wire and ran it to the true ignition relay/isolator coil.

I mounted 1 ground which I tested with a voltimeter. The secondary battery in my trunk is grounded to my starter battery terminal.

Strangest thing happened... The car doesn't seem to run when the true ignition is wired. Currently tapped into the starter red wire with 18 gauge wire. Do you think it's the wire gaugue or the ground?

I am using 3 fuse holders with 300amp fuses.

1 going from under the hood as the in-between (passthrough on the relay) [Positive from Starter Battery -> Stinger 200 AMP]

2 in the trunk (between both the negative and positive terminal wires)

Thanks!

I'm not sure of your wiring descriptions. Tapping into the red wire from the ignition switch (presumed to be switched power) should allow power to the stinger relay coil. When you state 'tapped', I presume you mean a three way connection - red wire cut stripped and the stinger relay coil wire joined to the split wires and wire nut ties all three wires together. With ignition off, the stinger should be off, no aux battery power to run whatever you wired to the aux battery. Switching ignition on to ACCessory or RUN position should power up the stinger to close its contacts to allow the aux battery to power things.

Wire gauge to power the stinger should be fine if using 10, 12, 14 gauge.

fdryer,

Thank you for the quick response. I will take pictures. The tapped in ; I was referring to my last post using 'Quick Splice' adapters [Found by the awesome guys at my local O'Reilly's] which allows you to tap into wires without snipping them.

I don't know if saturnfans have BBCode for YouTube so I pasted the video links. That's with 18 gague true ignition wire. I prepped a 8 gague wire and don't know where to run it to. Maybe a way to connect the existing HOT/RED splice; just don't know how to connect 8-gague to 18.

Thanks again!

1-Shaking a hand held phone or video camera doesn't help if you can't hold it steady to show the entire instrument cluster for several seconds. If you review your own recordings, you may feel the same way.

2-From what I can see (thru your shaking video), security is left on/blinking after engine startup and die off. Factory Passlock anti theft detected a theft or tampering attempt. The security indicator is yellow, in the tach display. Under normal startup, security is always checked - rotating the ignition lock cylinder with a set of magnets passed in front of a Passlock sensor sends a go or no go signal to the bcm containing the Passlock program. A go signal is sent from bcm to engine computer with the security indicator turning off. A no-go signal is sent to the engine computer to disable injectors, security indicator turned on. You're seeing a theft attempt, security indicator on with modified wiring during starting. Injectors are disabled to prevent engine running.

Examine your wiring again carefully. Tapping into one of the ignition wires is probably the reason for Passlock detecting a theft attempt.

Reviewing your images of wiring above the ignition switch, I'm guessing you tapped into a hot wire. If tapped into a hot wire, this goes against using a switched source of power to the stinger. You shouldn't be tapping into any hot wire when if you want a switched power source to be able to turn off the stinger, correct? Using a hot wire means the stinger is always powered up with the auxiliary battery supplying power to whatever's connected to it. While you can turn off accessory items with their own power switches, the stinger can't be turned off. Hot wiring the stinger means the relay is always drawing battery current from the main battery and can kill it if the car isn't used for a week or so.

Find a switched power source like we discussed, the orange wire going to unused seat heaters. With ignition off, the orange wire should not have 12v. With ignition on, the orange wire should have 12v. This is one wire to power the stinger relay. A 10 gauge wire is all that's needed - power is only used for the relay coil. You don't have to wire up the 8 gauge wires to the relay yet (switching the auxiliary battery power on/off). This simplifies setup for testing - regular startup and driving. If this half of circuitry works without security turning on and killing injector operation, proceed with wiring up your 8 gauge wires to the auxiliary battery.

fdryer,

Sorry for the poor video. Here are current wiring pics. Thank you for informing me regarding Passlock. Here is what I found in regards to Disabling Passlock since I cannot access the alrernator wiring.

Cowhide seats? This is new data I'm not mindful of. With two seat warmers, there ought to be no less than a few orange wires in the start switch outfit.
