I'm doing an MMO piston soak on my 97 SW1 and I gather the best position for the cylinders to be in is when the Crankshaft and pulley wheel are at the 3 O'clock postion.
Does anyone have a photo of what that looks like looking in from the passenger side with the wheel and the splash panel off? If you don't have a photo, what other features on the Crankshaft pulley wheel will indicate when it is at 3 O'clock. Thanks in advance |

Superimpose a clockface on the pulley as you're looking at it. NOw, what time is your pulley?
If you clean it off, there should be a hash,mark/notch on the circumference. ![]()

With spark plugs removed, it might be easier to insert a long straw into each cylinder to visually gauge where each piston is positioned and rotate the crankshaft until all straws are protruding similar height.
