Default Rear Wiper issue

Im trying to figure out a rear wiper issue. It doesnt work when i push any buttons. Neither does the wash for the rear window. What i have noticed is that when i reset power through the battery the wiper will wipe as like a test and the thats it. Is there anywhere in a scanner id be able to see if its commanding it to work? I know its not a fuse since it will work with power cycle.

Unless you visit GM so they can use their Tech II scantool to determine where the problem lies, there are only a handful of scantools on the market capable of testing sensors, indicators, solenoids and motors. Most repair shops will use high end scantools most diyers will not buy due to costs as shops need different modules to communicate with Ford, FCM, GM, etc. Generic readers and scantools decoding emissions errors, 'P' type codes with some now reading abs codes aren't capable of decoding 'C', U', and 'B' codes along with actuating motors and solenoids. There's been an undercurrent of Saturn members buying and using VCX Nano with almost all the capabilities of GMs scantool. It also helps to have service manuals for specific information to understand circuitry like how the rear wiper operates. Electronics runs almost everything and the bcm is the main module for commanding electrical/electronic devices. The bcm also acts as the conduit to gather error codes and transfer them to the OBD II port for connection to readers/scantools whether using a $20 reader or several thousand dollar scantool.

I do have one of the expensive tools actually. Its a snap on scanner that shops used until a few years ago when the newer model came out. Im able to see the bcm with no issue but didnt see anything about the rear wiper. I also looked at the section for the rear and didnt see it either.

With an all purpose scantool like Snapon, you may have to go deep into sub menus to see if there are test features like turning on all the panel lights, enable headlights or turn on front wipers. Are there sub menus under the bcm selection? Maybe under electrical? Front/rear wipers?
