2008 2.4l error code po1016 Cam/crank sensor or timing chain?
2008 vue 2.4l engine, 115,000 miles. Started to have horrible acceleration and within 5 miles was running poorly. Now is very hard to start but when it did it ran with no unusual noises.
Code shows poo16 po455 and po326. p0016 is cam crank sensor but I see on the net it could be a timing chain problem. po455 is large emision system leak. po326 is knock sensor.
May I safely assume I'd better take off the valve cover and check the chain first before checking/changing cam and crank sensors and then trying to start it? Just in case the chain is loose I don't want it to skip and have a valve piston collision.
If I have to replace the chain how big a job is that? I am skilled enough to do it, just wandering how tough it is to do with the engine in the car.
Any other advice will be appreciated.
