Hello all!
Just bought our 2007 V6 AWD VUE this past weekend and now the radio display is acting erractically (of course it didn't do it while we were test driving it!). Specifically, the pixels are flashing and are going in and out. And, the display cannot even be read at times (all of which happened this afternoon). I'm going to the dealership tomorrow for a few other "We owe" repairs and contacted them today when this happened. Any feedback is mucho appreciated! |

I checked for, and didn't find, any "flashing display" service bulletins.
Problem could be internal or external to radio - the service manual suggests "wiggling" wiring or equipment to isolate (along with other not so traditional efforts). One item to be wary of is to not pull fuses, or otherwise remove radio power source, if the radio security function is enabled. To do so could "brick" the silly thing unless the dealer is willing to locate the security code. See attachment - with luck the dealership will replace for you. ![]()

Thanks for the info, far2grumpy! Will let ya know how it went with the dealership. I thoroughly expect them to replace it as a goodwill jesture, considering the fact that after we signed the paperwork and went out to the car with the saleman to take it home, someone or something in their garage knocked the heck out of the rear quarter panel and took a small chunk of plastic out. The saleman apologized and said they would fix it of which we didn't complain. Hence, they owe us!! Thanks, again!

My radio will completely shut off or lock up at times when you press the buttons. Had it replaced once for clicking tweeters and a slow clock. I have a soare sittig in the garage jsut need to get the harness and put it in.

Just a thought - you could really play the bump issue and say the radio worked fine for someone bumped into the Vue. Don't know if it would work, but it is worth a try.

About a year back I posted a post either here or on the Tech Forum (Ghost in the Machine) .. being on dialup I can't find this, but I had someone noticed after hitting remote buttons while being in the car the display would light up erratically.
Is the radio operation affected? I had either a Pontiac 6000 or Grand Prix radio that went haywire ... erratic display no radio operation yet was recieving mobile phone conversations when scanning. Seems that the Cassette door was not sufficently grounded & when the door was touched it blew the tuner processor. Ashame they had to intigrate this radio with other features it when it could be easily replaced with an aftermarket. |

The slow clock is very characteristic for this radio, mine loses about 30 sec to a minute a week. & the fact you can brick this unit is a joke, if anyone steals it they get what they deserve... just another issue to return it to the dealer. ![]() I'ts not a bad sounding unit, but not great... I didn't think factoy radios were a hot commodity plus they are no longer universal like they were. |

I have the same problem and the same situation (just bought this 2007 VUE Hybrid and did not notice this problem when testing drive). The audio display is not stable, keeps changing and does not show anything meaningful even when you turn off the radio!! It does not show clock either.
The AM/FM/CD actually works, but just no meaningful display. How is your problem resolved? Thanks very much for any insight and tip. |

Mine's gotten worse. no buttons work except for the AM/FMand the eject. VOL knob works too. SO I have my fav rock station on FM1, my IPOD FM channel on FM2. And just pop in a CD if I want those.
Still have another ready to go in just havnt bought the harness.

I have a 2007 Saturn View and the radio has been flashing in and out for two years or so, and occasionally some of the buttons would not work. However, now the radio will not even come on, no lights on the display or anything. I am taking it in for maintenance next week and am contemplating buying a new radio for the shop to install. Is it the radio or the wiring? It's depressing riding in a car with no music!

Anyone know a fix to this problem? My 2006 ION radio is doing the same.
Thanks. |

One is connected direct to battery and titled RADIO 15A and other titled RADIO (IGN) 10A - is tied to ignition switch when in ACC or ON. Both are in the instrument panel fuse box which is behind removable cover located near a front passengers left foot. There is a "map" on back side of cover to help locate fuses. If the circuit tied direct to battery is defective the radio will lose time and preset stations when a hiccup occurs. Do you recall if you lost clock and presets when radio was in intermittent hiccup stage? In any event - you could check both fuses - I'd also remove and re-install both - and would probably also wiggle any reachable radio wiring while monitoring radio for signs of life (key to ACC or ON - of course). You probably need a replacement radio if the power and ground circuits are good (radio uses a braided wire connected to metal bracket for I/P fuse block for ground).

I have the same problem with mine and when it happens , I just take the Volume knob and push it in and out gently. It must push on the circuit board inside.
