Outlook BCM Gone Bad?
I've been having a few quirks for the last six months or so with my 2007 Outlook. When it was exceptionally cold outside (under 10*F), my radio would fail to turn on, or if it did, I couldn't change the channel or volume level. Around the same time the car started having issues with correctly dimming/brightening the dash lights coming in and out of the parking garage. At the time I thought these were unrelated issues. Now yesterday my car suddenly failed to backlight the guages, radio lcd, climate control lcd and driver information lcd. All guages worked however. It suddenly started working correctly a few minutes later. This morning it did it again but it took longer to kick back in.
I'm suspecting the BCM - my mechanic can install and program it for $160 which is pretty much a steal compared to the dealer, and I'm finding it online through a GM dealer in Arizona for $175 instead of the $325 at my local stealership. Am I on the right train of thought here? I don't mind getting the BCM, but I hate to be somewhat blindly throwing over $300 at the car if I'm wrong.

Here's a belated welcome to SaturnFans, canela! I noticed that you had another post from this past November which received no repsonses. I wish I could be of more help, but I know nothing about the 3.6L engine in these Sport Utility vehicles. Frankly, there aren't many Outlook owner members due to the demise of the Saturn brand with GM's bankruptcy/bailout in 2010. I suppose it might be worth finding a forum for Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, or Buick Enclave owners as those vehicles shared the same platform, engine and transmission with the Outlook.
A couple of threads may have some relationship to your concerns here.

What's my opinion of your situation? I don't have confidence to suggest that a BCM replacement is the right choice to make to correct the problems you're experiencing. I will admit that a causal connection with the BCM and your symptoms is possible, but that's as far as I can go in recommending any type of DIYer repair on your Outlook. Members in the L Series Forums have described even wilder problems with a failing BCM.
