2002 SC1
Dizzy 1st year reflections

I bought the 2002 Saturn SC1 1 year ago for $400 with 199,200 miles on it and now looking back at what was done to it since.

New

Transmission Valve Body (sonnax $240)
Radiator
Replaced all Fluids, oil, anti-freeze (used High Mileage)
Top Motor Mount
Ignition Coils
Spark Plug Wires
Spark Plugs (NGK)
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor ( ECT)
MAP Sensor
Idle Air Control
Battery
Headlight Assemblies
Foot Well Lights in the front ( did not come with them, used LED )
Double Din 7" Touch Screen Stereo w/ Back Up Cam ($25)
Replaced 50% of the light bulbs with LED
Front Wheel Bearings w/ Wheel Alignment
Windsheild wiper blades
Ceramic Brake pads (Front)

Oddball Stuff

Steam Cleaned the seats and carpet
Rubbing compound and a good wax
Got the A/C working and Recharged A/C
Cleaned Intake (seafoam dump)

Want To Do

Find a replacement LED Dome light to replace the old dim one
New Exhaust System, it's a little loud ( looks like Factory on this )
Get some 15" or 16" wheels and tires ( maybe )
Maybe replace the rest of the lights with LED

This drives great now but, kind of weird lately, doing a stutter start. Starter? well if that's the case may as well replace the Crank Sensor as well...

Well I'm off to start a new year.

Is yours that metallic orange color? I love that color.

Sounds like you have an almost new car now.

Check out his pics in the "what did you do . . ." thread
http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/sho...54031&page=275

Those new headlights really do make the car look new (along with the wax, etc. ), and +1 on the color. I think it may have looked more coppery in real life, or maybe I am thinking of a different color

So I've wanted to replace the dome light now for a while to a brighter led as well. How did you take the dome light cover off without breaking it though? It seems like that light is the most fragile piece of plastic and no one has taken it off in one piece, lol.

Went to a junkyard, got another dome light assembly.

With a spare in hand, you should be able to remove the original cover successfully...
(Murphy’s Law)

Only took me 17 Saturn S series before I got an intact dome light from the junkyard...

Look in your trunk, the same bulb should be in the trunk....
You can then order two, and pay the same postage as one...

I have been meaning to go to the local salvage yard recently to just look around. Its been a while, hopefully (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it) they have some new Saturns by now.

Also, I do remember one time when I was at the salvage yard I tried to remove the dome light just to see if I could. Barely even got my screwdriver under it and the thing snapped

Yeah the trunk is the same bulb, I broke that housing a while back replacing the bulb that turned out to not even need replacing

For my dome light, I ordered 3, and used 24 gauge copper wire to connect them side by side. The center bulb goes in the socket. I found that one LED bulb would not provide enough light.

It's GOOD to have a spare!

I think my rear dome light is reattached with zipties since the tabs holding the base to the backing in the headliner were so embrittled with heat and age.

The two leds that I orderd for the dome light and the trunk came in eariler. The one for the trunk went in with no problems. The one for the dome light though was really annoying. I got the dome light off with no problems, even managed to keep the clips intact. The metal prongs on the led that holds on to the dome was just a little too long for me to be able to get in so when I tried to squeeze them a little bit to make them a little flatter, I broke the led Then when I put the dome light back on, I simultaneously broke both of the clips...well, time to go to the junkyard again I suppose

Or apparently you can still buy them new? part no. 21303732 can still be found online. It's defiantly more expensive than one from a junkyard but the clips probably won't be so brittle. hmm...
